For the past three months I have been going to the JoAnn Fabrics near my house that has a Framing center. The lady there grew to know me and had been giving me student discounts. What I had her do is cut mat board for me for my pictures ( I am majoring in photography therefore taking photography classes and I needed to mat my pictures). Well two days ago she told me that she wasn’t making a profit off of cutting those for me and basically told me she couldn’t cut them for me anymore and asked if I had anywhere else to get them cut. Wtf? Would she tell a customer who wants a frame done that she couldn’t do it for them and to go somewhere else? I don’t think so.
I don’t mind having to pay full price for my pictures to look nice or anything because when I cut my own mat board it looks kinda bad and it takes me forever.
Do you feel this was kind of rude? Should I go back and see if I can pay full price?
I don’t know what to do =(

I don’t understand how I was taking advantage of her time if I was a paying customer….
I also try to take my pictures as soon as I can so I have the dimensions a week before my project is due so that the JoAnn fabrics lady will have more time do cut the mat.

No, she would not tell this to the occasional shopper. But you where taking advantage of her time. As a photo major, this is something you should do for yourself. Practice.
If I needed help understanding directions for a certain pattern, the staff would assist, but not every time I wanted to sew something.

I want to enter a local tiny art show with a couple of my landscape oil paintings.
I am wondering if I am better off going to a local frame shop, or better off using a 50% off coupon at Michael’s or Joann Fabrics. I suspect Michael’s and Joann charge more to begin with, so they can offer these coupons so the price is the same, but I dunno.
The quality of work is somewhat important.
pros and cons would be great.
I am rural and these stores are all many miles away, which is why I do not want to drive around and price.

frame shop or michael’s or any other larger craft shop. joanns not so much. i’d check michaels with the coupon first.

I am making some sock puppets with my niece and nephews. We have a little kit but we want to make more. I am having trouble finding cheap pack of colored socks. Does anyone have a suggestion on where I can find something like this? I checked at craft store such as Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Joanns. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Your best bet, is check your local thrift stores and the ones you don’t use for puppets, you can use for dust rags. And they will only cost about $ .25 a pair, and you can look in your drawer, and see if you have any mismatches.

I try to make a game of it by running errands in the same location such as pick up meds, grocery shop, post office, recycle and JoAnns. These buildings are not in a mall or a shopping center, but within one block. Nifty, huh? So I hit 5 birds with one stone.

Where is the cheapest place to buy colored duck brand duct tape? I went to Joann’ Fabric and bought some for $ 5 to make stuff with, but I thought it was a little bit expensive. I thought I saw it at Target for $ 2.50, but I don’t know for sure! Please answer as soon as possible!!! Thanks!

I need a gallon or more of tempera paint, but Joann’s and Michael’s don’t carry it. They say I should try an art supply store.

That’s something you need to buy from a school supply catalog or something. Actually there is a teacher store called Lakeshore Learning in Bellevue and I think they have gallon tempra paint.

Try Walmart… last time I was in one, they still were carrying Dan River gingham.
